Antero Reservoir

Reservoirs and water storage facilities are a common site in Colorado. Many reservoirs were developed by the Bureau of Reclamation to provide ongoing water for irrigators within the area. In 1902 money from the sales of western land was used to finance water projects that would reclaim the land for human use. The reservoirs that divert water from rivers and streams within Colorado, act as reminder of our arid past. Today many of the reservoirs provide water for municipals rather than irrigators.
