Recreation

The watershed is a major recreational center. Over three quarters of the land in the Watershed is publicly owned, and its proximity to the Front Range makes it easily accessible. It has over 3,000,000 visitors that come to fish, hike, climb, camp, hunt, ride (horses, bikes, and off-road vehicles), or just to enjoy the scenery.

Recreation on this scale is not a completely benign activity. Trails and access roads are serious sources of sediment; illegal activities occur, and carelessness causes fires.

Clicking on any areas of the map with dots will take you to a detailed area map with specific Recreation locations.
